Former National Mosque Grand Imam named Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1443H

Former National Mosque Grand Imam Tan Sri Syaikh Ismail Muhammad has been named the recipient of the National Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1443H/2021 award.

Saudi Arabia Royal Council Advisor Dr Muhammad Abdulkarim Al-Issa, meanwhile, was selected as the recipient of the International Tokoh Maal Hijrah award.

The announcement was made by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri in conjunction with the national-level Maal Hijrah 1443H celebration at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque here today.

Zulkifli said the two figures were selected based on their outstanding contributions in upholding Islam at the national and international levels.

Syaikh Ismail and Dr Muhammad Abdulkarim both received a cash prize, a medal and a certificate.

This year’s Maal Hijrah celebration was held in moderation and with strict compliance to the standard operating procedures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob were also present at the event.

Meanwhile, Syaikh Ismail who is also a judge for national and international Quran recital competitions, urged Muslims to pray to Allah for a swift end to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Prayer is a weapon and Muslims should always pray and not do things that are considered sinful by Allah SWT,” he said, while thanking all parties for the Tokoh Maal Hijrah award.

He also advised all parties in the country to end their conflicts so that focus can be given to the government’s efforts to contain the pandemic.

Malaysians express relief over gov’t’s latest decision to relax SOP

Restaurant, hotel and sports facility operators welcomed the government’s decision to allow them to resume their respective operations and allow those who are fully vaccinated to partake in social activities effective tomorrow.

Malaysian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association (PRESMA) president Datuk Jawahar Ali Taib Khan was grateful that the government was allowing dine-in activities and hoped that more workers in the sector will be vaccinated.

“This is something good and we have always hoped that dining-in would be allowed, so we will take the prime minister’s advice of not allowing customers to linger at the restaurant for too long . I also beseech the government to speed up the vaccination process for our employees outside the Klang Valley as they are akin to frontliners.

“In the Klang Valley, Alhamdulillah around 85 per cent of workers have been vaccinated, with 50 per cent having completed both shots,” he said, adding there were around 4,500 Presma members throughout the country.

While welcoming the government’s suggestion to have more open concept dining areas, he hoped that the local authorities would allow the use of spaces outside the restaurant premises as long as it did not hinder traffic or parking.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) chief executive officer Yap Lip Seng said although the relaxation covers only states under Phase Two and beyond of the National Recovery Plan (PPN), it is a significant step forward not just for the tourism industry but also the country as a whole.

“It shows the government’s commitment to transition the country from the state of a pandemic to accepting COVID-19 as endemic. While these are relatively small progressive steps especially for the tourism industry, the industry can now prepare itself for an impending reopening.

“Allowing dine-in at restaurants, as an example, is expected to benefit hotels, particularly those certified Clean and Safe by Bureau Veritas Certification Malaysia (a proprietary hygiene and safety label for hotels by MAH) that had since its inception included ventilation, airflow as well as seating arrangements as part of its safety and health guidelines for restaurants within the hotels,” he said in a statement.

He said the overall high compliance of SOPs by hotels is an added assurance to the general public that it is safe to dine and even stay whether it is just for a short staycation or for any other travel purposes.

Yap said, another proposal by MAH, which has been presented to the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri earlier this year, is to allow fully vaccinated persons to travel between districts and states with added controls of confirmed hotel bookings and itineraries that can be monitored by hotels.

“With the current progress, this should be allowed in the next phase of relaxation, commencing with travel between states that have transitioned to Phase Two. The hotel industry is ready and will support the government in taking calculated steps towards the full reopening of tourism, not just domestic but also international,” he said, adding there were approximately 1,000 members currently under MAH, nationwide.

The Youth Council of Malaysia Sports and Cultural Committee chairman Hasanul Amir Abdul Halim said it was now the duty of Malaysians and industry players to implement things as best as possible to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“I believe that Malaysians are wise enough to make their own assessment. No matter what, Malaysians need to be responsible for their actions. The relaxation and approval of sports and recreational activities, approval of dining-in and the reopening of domestic tourism are very welcomed as it will help reduce stress levels after such a long period of staying at home.

“Besides, this move will help sports and tourism facility operators to resume their businesses and generate income. For them, not only do they need to ensure that individuals frequenting their businesses have completed both vaccination shots, their workers will also need to be fully vaccinated,” he said.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday announced that the government has agreed to allow individuals who have completed their vaccination and are staying in states that are in Phase Two and beyond of the PPN to engage in social sector activities.

These activities include inter-district travel, dining in at restaurants, non-group sports and recreational activities without physical contact and domestic tourism involving homestays and hotels.

Currently, six states are in Phase Two of the PPN namely Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Sabah while Perlis, Sarawak and Labuan are in Phase Three.

Kedah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Putrajaya are still in Phase One.

King calls on Malaysians to be guided by spirit of Hijrah in fight against pandemic

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah tonight called on all Malaysians to be guided by the spirit of the Hijrah in battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his message in conjunction with Maal Hijrah tomorrow, His Majesty urged Malaysians to comply with the four-phase National Recovery Plan, which is a strategy to exit from the clutches of the pandemic.

At a hybrid celebration held at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque here, Al-Sultan Abdullah said the Hijrah (migration) had given a clear guide on the meaning of sacrifice and success.

In conjunction with this year’s Maal Hijrah theme, “Manhaj Rabbani Umat Berkualiti”, His Majesty called on Malaysians to rise together to strengthen unity, maintain health and adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the sake of the country.

“I am confident that the country will emerge successfully from any crisis if everyone remains united and practises the admirable qualities of Prophet Muhammad,” said Al-Sultan Abdullah.

His Majesty said that among the noble qualities of the Prophet Muhammad that should be emulated is to be truthful in all words and deeds, honest, trustworthy and also wise in conveying the message.

The Sirah of the Prophet Muhammad clearly demonstrates that he was a highly ethical leader with noble traits, encompassing integrity, honesty and trust, that he was given the title of ‘Al-Amin’.

In terms of administration and decision-making, the Prophet Muhammad practised an open attitude and always listened to the thoughts of the people through the concept of ‘shura’(consultation).

“Because of that, Prophet Muhammad always opens space to conduct meetings, as well as to discuss and listen to views in every matter related to the welfare and well-being of the ummah,” said His Majesty.

The Prophet Muhammad’s traits which include ‘tawaduk’(humility) and always glorify the greatness of Allah, make him a leader who is not influenced by greed that can invite symptoms of corruption, deceit and selfishness, with worldly materials such as rank, wealth and position.

His Majesty said that the Prophet Muhammad has also strived to enjoin good and prevent evil deeds, and all that aimed at creating an environment that could stimulate an ethical administration of the country with noble values.

“These leadership characteristics have succeeded in forming an Islamic country that is held in high esteem and respected. Prophet Muhammad is the best role model to be emulated and followed by all Malaysians,” said His Majesty.

Al-Sultan Abdullah said “hijrah” and nation-building are closely intertwined with each other.

“Indeed, appreciating “hijrah” is not only able to shape noble values but it is also able to be the basis for the formation of a nation,” said His Majesty.

MAM to organise inaugural Merdeka Virtual Race

The e-racing community will have a chance to put their skills to the test by participating in the inaugural MAM (Motorsports Association of Malaysia) Merdeka Virtual Race in conjunction with the upcoming 64th National Day celebrations.

MAM president Tan Sri Mokhzani Tun Mahathir said the event held in collaboration with MSF, RaceRoom and Adrenaline Impact, begins with the preliminaries and qualifying round from Aug 3-29.

Following the success of the first Lockdown Virtual Championships, which drew 210 participants last year, Mokhzani said MAM expects the inaugural Merdeka Virtual Race to attract even more participants this year.

“Participants can race on three different e-racing platforms, namely iRacing, Gran Turismo Sport, and RaceRoom,” he said.

The final race on the iRacing platform will be held on Aug 30 , while the finals for Gran Turismo Sport and RaceRoom events will be held on the 31st.

Apart from the e-racing events, racers will also have the opportunity to further enhance their e-racing skills through the Virtual Racer Clinic, which will be held on Aug 14. The three-hour virtual class will be conducted by Split Second Advanced Driving (SSAD) instructor Rashid Ramlan.

“Despite the limitations and restrictions due to the COVID-19 situation, we explored a different avenue to ensure the spirit of motorsports continues even if it means using a virtual platform to race. This also fits perfectly into the increased interest and participation in the booming e-sports scene,” said Mokhzani.

MAM has also struck a partnership with leading insurance and takaful provider Etiqa as the Platinum sponsor for the event, while premium lubricants maker Hi-Rev is the Gold sponsor.

Group CEO of Etiqa Insurance & Takaful, Kamaludin Ahmad said the virtual race resonates with Etiqa’s organisational culture of making things Fast & Easy, whether it is to purchase, submit claims or receive payouts, and that they look forward to cheering the racers on.

In the meantime, General Manager of POSIM Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd. Valerie Poon, believed that with HI-REV Lubricants, MAM and Etiqa, three national winning brands joining forces, they can bring the fun experience in motorsport to a new level.

Philips introduces new HealthSuite solutions to drive healthcare’s digital transformation

August 9, 2021

  • New Philips HealthSuite solutions break down data silos to activate secure, connected care and scalable, cost-effective innovation across the care continuum
  • Cloud-based solutions for orchestrated patient logistics and enterprise telehealth for acute care help to deliver on quadruple aim

Amsterdam, the Netherlands  Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, today announced the introduction of two new Philips HealthSuite solutions that are secure, cloud-based and intended to break down barriers across patient care in a scalable, cost-effective model. During HIMSS21, Philips will showcase and introduce Philips Patient Flow Capacity Suite and Philips Acute Care Telehealth, key HealthSuite solutions that allow health systems to integrate informatics applications that can be combined and scaled up or down according to emerging needs. Philips HealthSuite solutions help health systems deliver on the quadruple aim through a connected, protected, future-ready and cost-predictive single cloud infrastructure and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.

Driving connected, future-ready care
As care settings expand beyond the hospital, health systems are seeking new ways to manage the influx of data while addressing challenges with IT resources and budgets. The adoption of platform-based IT models is on the rise, with more than 30% of global economic activity expected to be mediated by digital platforms in six years, yet experts estimate only 3% of companies have adopted an effective platform strategy [1]. Philips HealthSuite
securely stores critical healthcare data and provides both advanced analytics and AI capabilities, while delivering industry-leading interoperability to help enable precision care and provide care anywhereWith these new HealthSuite solutions, health systems can liberate data from silos and connect it in a way that enables care teams to turn data into actionable insights and collaborate to better serve patients.

“Health systems today must continue to evolve to meet the needs of patients and providers, ensuring care is connected across settings and that care can be delivered anywhere – all of which requires agile and secure platforms that will allow them to innovate and scale as demands shift,” said Roy Jakobs, Chief Business Leader, Connected Care, Philips. “Our cloud-based HealthSuite solutions are a milestone in how they support the acceleration of digital transformation in health systems to deliver better, patient-centric care, while reducing costs and resources.”

New HealthSuite solutions
The two new HealthSuite solutions introduced during HIMSS21 are:

  • Patient Flow Capacity Suite: A patient logistics solution that helps manage the patient journey across the entire care continuum. By taking a holistic approach to care coordination and combining clinical and operational data, the solution helps to provide the visualization and machine learning supported analytics that can enable more informed patient flow decisions. Care is orchestrated in a structured manner across the entire healthcare network, including affiliate networks as well as post-acute settings. Patient Flow Capacity Suite connects the front lines with hospital enterprise operations to systematically predict demand, make patient transition decisions, and spot patient flow bottlenecks.
  • Acute Care Telehealth: Building on Philips’ decades-long expertise in Tele-ICU solutions, Acute Care Telehealth provides a configurable and flexible solution to help health systems realize their virtual care and wider enterprise telehealth ambitions. The solution’s scalability allows health systems to deploy Acute Care Telehealth in a centralized command center, or a decentralized model of telehealth dependent on their needs. By allowing customers to add additional hospitals, clinical units or beds, Acute Care Telehealth grows as each organization’s telehealth strategy evolves.

Additional clinical and operational solutions will be added to Philips HealthSuite. Next, updates are planned for Philips Electronic Medical Record and Philips Acute Care and Anesthesia Workspace.

A modular approach for tailored, flexible solutions
A modular approach offers flexible solutions and services to solve specific customer needs, making solutions easy to implement, install, maintain, and use. All solutions benefit from the same SaaS model, which can help to lower initial deployment costs and relieve ongoing IT resource strains. Additionally, the new HealthSuite solutions are:

  • Connected: allowing for easy access to data across care pathways with purpose-built ecosystem services, such as integration with third-party partners.
  • Protected: secure by design, meeting privacy and security requirements and ensuring systems are always up to date with continuous vigilance.
  • Future-Ready: enabling faster adoption of innovation, allowing health systems to scale solutions within the enterprise and to add solutions according to need.
  • Predictable: the adoption of new innovations requires less initial investment and creates a transparent total cost of ownership. Philips is responsible for all updates and upgrades, allowing IT to focus on new strategic initiatives rather than maintaining the life cycle of software products.

Supporting health systems in their digital transition
Philips’ informatics solutions are an integral part of Philips Care Collaboration [2], a collaborative approach to supporting a healthcare organization’s digital transformation. As health systems seek to manage, coordinate, orchestrate and synchronize care across the health continuum, each organization’s digital journey will be unique. Through Care Collaboration, Philips acts as a partner to healthcare organizations to gain a deep understanding of their challenges and determine how Philips’ advanced HealthSuite solutions can help them support data and workflows to deliver enhanced care to the right patient, in the right setting, at the right time.
