A total of 141 localities in Sabah have been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) as of today (Aug 9), said state Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.

He said the Kota Kinabalu district had 24 localities under EMCO, followed by Penampang (18); Tawau (17); Keningau (14); Tuaran (11); Beaufort (nine); Sandakan (eight); Sipitang (seven); Kudat (five); Kinabatangan (four); Papar, Kota Belud, Kunak, Putatan, Ranau and Tenom (three each); Kota Marudu and Telupid (two each); as well as Tongod and Beluran (one each).

“Two more localities, namely the Taman Sri Balung People’s Housing Projects (PPR) and Taman Sri Titingan PPR in Tawau will also be placed under the EMCO from Aug 11-24.

“Apart from that, Kem 2 Tolokoson in Tenom, Kampung Kota Tuaran, Tuaran and Kampung Sarikan, Nabawan will be also placed under the EMCO from Aug 11 after the risk assessment carried out by the Ministry of Health and the rising number of COVID-19 infections in the area,” he said.

Masidi said the Nabawan district had also changed from orange zone to red zone, thus all 27 districts in the state are now red zones.

Meanwhile, Sabah today recorded 1,247 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total infection in the state to 95,082.

A total of 11 fatalities were also reported today, with three deaths in Tawau, two each in Tuaran and Papar and one each in Kota Marudu, Ranau, Kota Kinabalu and Penampang.
