Situation in Segamat expected to return to normal in two to three days

SEGAMAT, Jan 15 — The flood water in Segamat, which is the worst flood-affected district in Johor, is expected to recede completely in two or three days, with three relief centres (PPS) still in operation in the district.

Segamat district officer Hasrin Kamal Hashim said the the PPS included at Dewan Serbaguna, Jalan Genuang near here, which is for those diagnosed with COVID-19.

However, as at noon today, 77victims from 24 families were still at the PPS at Sekolah Agama (SA) Gemereh and Balai Raya Gemereh 4, he told reporters on the latest flood situation in the district.

Meanwhile, he said the district office had received 118 applications for post-flood relief and clean-up work, including from government agencies, the private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), political parties, public institution of higher learning (IPTA) and individuals.

“So far, all applications have been approved by the Segamat Disaster Management Committee chairman,” he added.
