MAF LOOKING FOR HEAD COACH FOR SIX DISCIPLINES

KUALA LUMPUR, The Malaysia Athletics Federation (MAF) is looking for head coaches for six athletic disciplines in a mission to strengthen the governing body’s coaching structure.

The six disciplines involved are sprints/relays; hurdles, middle long distance; jumps – long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault; throws – hammer, discus, javelin, shot put and race walking.

MAF general manager Nurhayati Karim said the plan to hire the new coaches had started since the Working Committee Meeting (JKK) with NSC (National Sports Council) last December.

“In that meeting we discussed having the position of head coach for each discipline where we did not have that position earlier. The task of the head coach of each discipline is to monitor the performance of the respective coaches and athletes.

“They are also responsible for executing the MAF coaching director Robert Ballard’s plan while the head coach will not undermine the position of the existing coaches,” she told Bernama today.

Therefore, Hayati said, MAF
welcomes all parties, especially former athletes or those who want to retire, to apply directly by contacting Ballard via email robertjohn_ballard@y7mail.com or on 012-2759342 before the closing date at 5pm this Friday (July 12).

“This position is open to those who have experience in the mentioned discipline regardless of whether it is domestic or foreign. All applicants will be screened first before we shortlist the best candidates.

“After that they will undergo several interviews before being appointed to the position. We hope the appointment process will be completed this September,” she said.
