KOTA BHARU, Kelantan aims to win 18 gold medals at the 2024 Para Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Sarawak this September.

Kelantan Sports and Recreation Association for the Handicapped (Pesron) chairman Mahmood Deraman said that the 74-athlete contingent will aim to secure 10 gold medals in athletics, one each in badminton, chess, boccia and lawn bowling, and two each in table tennis and powerlifting.

The Kelantan Para SUKMA head coach said that selected athletes will undergo centralised training at the State Youth and Sports Complex in Panji here from July 15.

‘Chosen athletes will be assessed through classification to determine their status and selection,’ he told Bernama recently.

The Para SUKMA in Sarawak will see the participation of around 1,500 athletes and is scheduled to take place from Sept 22 to 28.
