Tragic Road Accident in North Cotabato Claims Four Lives


North Cotabato – A fatal road crash involving a passenger van and two motorcycles in North Cotabato resulted in the death of four individuals on Monday night.



According to Philippines News Agency, Maj. Maxim Peralta, the town police chief, identified the deceased as Mohaimen Bangkailan, 29; Nasser Mansag Cadulong; and their respective back riders, Almina Bangkailan, 21, and Kalya Sacanda. The accident occurred around 8:16 p.m. in Barangay Kayaga. The police are still investigating to determine the fault in the collision.



The victims sustained severe injuries and were transported to the hospital but were declared dead upon arrival. Marcelino Zacharias, the driver of the commuter van involved in the accident, was unharmed. He is currently detained at the Kabacan police lock-up cell, awaiting the outcome of the investigation.



In a separate incident, a police officer also lost his life after falling off the Lamitan Bridge in Makilala town. Lt. Col. Britz Sales, the town police chief, identified the officer as Patrolman Florentino Fracsidecio II, a member of the 2nd Mobile Force Company based in Davao Occidental. The incident occurred around 3 a.m., with the officer’s body discovered submerged in shallow river waters later that day by a local resident.
