MELAKA, March 14 (Bernama) — It was a beautiful memory for the family of the late Mohamad Farhan Ashraf Taharin who received the posthumous degree award at the Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) 17th Convocation Ceremony today.
His sister, Nur Farzana, 28, said all the sacrifices and pain that the youngest of two siblings, who died on June 3 last year, had to endure throughout the duration of his studies paid off even though he only scored a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.50.
Mohamad Farhan Ashraf, who received a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (Interactive Media) (Hons), suffered from gout.
“He faced many challenges while trying to complete his studies. He often complained about being tired because he was constantly sick and had to take medicines to ease the pain.
“The degree is his gift to us, his family. We are moved and proud even though he is not around to receive the scroll,” she told reporters at the ceremony here today.
Nur Farzana received the posthumous degree on behalf of Mohamad Farhan Ashraf from Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri who is also UTeM Chancellor Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam.
Their parents, Azizah Ali, 55, and Taharin Abas, 56, were also present.
The four-day convocation ceremony which began today will see 3,275 graduates receiving their scrolls at diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and doctorate levels.
