KUCHING, June 10 (Bernama) — The Sarawak government has approved 608 projects under the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA) thus far, with an allocation of RM1.5 billion.
Sarawak Premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, said that, of the total number of projects, 201 had been completed as of this month.
Based on that number as well, 86 projects are under implementation and 200 projects in the planning stage, while another 121 projects will start in the third quarter of this year or the first quarter of next year.
“The IRSDA will first develop the infrastructure, which is the development of roads, electricity and water supply. Some are ready; some are being implemented, and this is an important matter in all areas of IRSDA.
“Another Jalan Samarahan (will be built) to enter Asajaya, which is the main road into Sebuyau. However, that is not included in the IRSDA allocation; it is an addition from the Premier. The road from Sebuyau connecting Sri Aman will make it easier for people to travel to Sibu,” he said in his speech at the launch of IRSDA here today.
IRSDA, established on Nov 12, 2018, by Abang Johari, is one of the Sarawak government’s new holistic approaches, to drive and boost the development and socio-economy of the people in Samarahan.
Among the projects that have been implemented are 63 road and bridge projects, 96 maintenance and river projects and 40 plantation road projects.
Also present were Deputy Premier, Datuk Seri Sim Kui Hian and Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
