Penang gov’t unveils Draft Local Plan 2030 for Island

GEORGE TOWN, Oct 20 (Bernama) — The Penang government today unveiled the draft local plan (island) 2030, which is set to become a guideline for planning and development on the island part of the state.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the draft plan was an official document detailing all proposals for the development and use of land in each lot, and once gazetted, would become a reference for the community, landowners, stakeholders, and civilians in the Northeast and Southwest districts.

“Members of the public and stakeholders can submit their suggestions, objections, and other feedback which will certainly be taken into account in finalising this draft, from Oct 14 to Dec 13,” he said at the launch of the publicity and public participation programme for the plan here today.

Chow said copies of the draft plan were available at the exhibition hall of the Syed Al-Attas Building in Lebuh Armenian and the Makerspace in Balik Pulau.

“It is hoped that Penangites can take full advantage (to look through and give feedback) to improve this important document,” he added.
