P72-M Taytay sports complex oval track completed – DPWH

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Tuesday reported the completion of the construction of PHP72.3 million worth of oval track in Taytay, Rizal, which can be used for major sporting events in the province. DPWH Region 4-A Director Jovel Mendoza said the project involved the installation of 8,510 square meters of artificial grass for the football field, and initial construction of a 59.5-meter road network for alignment 1 and 116 meters for alignment 2. Other works include mobilization, earthworks, installation of sheet piles, concreting of pile cups, hand-laid rock embankments, embankments from borrow and demobilization. Mendoza said the construction of oval track started on June 13, 2022. He added the oval track is part of the 69,300-square-meter Taytay Sports Complex Project located in Barangay Muzon, which is a multi-year project from 2019-2025. The complex will also feature a multi-purpose building, stadium bleachers and an Olympic sized pool. When completed, the facility will serve as a new sporting event venue in Region 4-A (Calabarzon) which will nurture the talents of Rizaleños and boost the morale of Filipino athletes.
