Melaka Japen lines up 92 programmes to enliven National Month, Malaysia Day celebrations

MELAKA, Aug 14 (Bernama) — A total of 92 programmes have been lined up to enliven the National Month and Malaysia Day celebrations in Melaka.

Melaka Information Department (Japen) director Shahrom Ravin Daram Abdullah said the programmes have been running from Aug 1 until Sept 16.

“Among the programmes lined up is ‘Semarak Gemilang’ which involves three areas, namely Telok Gong Beach in Kuala Linggi, Morten Village in Melaka Tengah and Gapam Baharu Orang Asli Village in Jasin.

“This year’s celebrations also saw 84 Keluarga Malaysia Communities taking part in the Merdeka@Komuniti programme,” he told reporters here today.

He said the Melaka Japen would also hold the Singing Community competition at Flat Sri Siantan, Bukit Baru on Sept 15.

Meanwhile, he said the Kembara Merdeka Keluarga Malaysia convoy, which is currently in Johor, is scheduled to reach Melaka via Merlimau this Tuesday.

He said the convoy would hand over the Jalur Gemilang baton to Melaka at Demang Abdul Ghani Gallery before moving to a supermarket in Ayer Keroh and the Mara Higher Skills College (KKTM) in Masjid Tanah before heading to Negeri Sembilan.

Melaka has been chosen as the host for the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16 with the theme “Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama” (Keluarga Malaysia – Standing Strong Together).
