Malaysia ready to welcome more international students from Japan – EMGS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) — Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) is ready to make the ‘Study in Malaysia’ brand visible in Japan as Malaysia is progressively becoming one of the most preferred study destinations for international students from the Land of the Rising Sun.

EMGS, in a statement, said Japanese students continued to show an interest in pursuing their studies in Malaysia and, after the easing of travel restrictions, EMGS is back on track to run physical events including international events.

“The data from EMGS shows that more than 2,000 applications have been received based on the cumulative data from 2019-2022,” it said.

It added that EMGS will make a working visit to Tokyo, Japan from July 19-21 to establish and strengthen networking opportunities between the Malaysian and Japanese higher education stakeholders.

The working visit will provide an opportunity to discuss various issues of mutual interest to enhance strategic cooperation, particularly in the international education sector with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports & Technology Japan (MEXT), Japan Student Services Organisation (JASSO) and Yuai Islamic International High School Shibuya.

EMGS also organised the Study in Malaysia Global Alumni Networking Dinner in Japan yesterday to connect with the alumni who had studied in higher education institutions in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, EMGS chief executive officer Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin said EMGS was ready to welcome more international students to Malaysia, particularly those from Japan.

“This working visit to Tokyo aims to strengthen awareness and presence about Education Malaysia in Japan,” he said in the statement.
