PUTRAJAYA, July 29 (Bernama) — After not being held on a large scale for two years to curb the spread of COVID-19, the launch of 2022 National Month and the Flying of Jalur Gemilang will be held here tomorrow (Saturday) with the participation of the various strata of Keluarga Malaysia.
The launching ceremony of the 2022 National Month and the Flying of Jalur Gemilang with the theme ‘Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama’ at Dataran Putrajaya will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Among the attractions in conjunction with the launch is the performance of five traditional dances that reflect the diversity of races in this country accompanied by the Keluarga Malaysia song by the Information Department’s Pentarama.
Also held in conjunction with the launch of the 2022 National Month and Flying the Jalur Gemilang is the Berjalan Teguh Bersama programme which is a walking event that will be attended by the Minister of Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
The Berjalan Teguh Bersama programme will start from Dataran Putra to the Palace of Justice here, and it is estimated that more than 10,000 Keluarga Malaysia will participate in the walk.
Street performances including street entertainment, bands and traditional performances will greet the participants of Berjalan Teguh Bersama at each checkpoint set along the 2.7 kilometre route.
The programme with the concept of leisurely walking together with family members carries the message of unity and togetherness of Malaysians as one of the initiatives to support the aspirations of Keluarga Malaysia.
To kindle the spirit of patriotism, the prime minister will also flagged off the 2022 Keluarga Malaysia Merdeka Day convoy.
The Minister had said that he wanted this year’s National Day to be celebrated with innovations involving participation at community and family levels so that the theme and concept of Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama’ celebration could be fully embraced.
Annuar who is the chairman of the 2022 National Day and Malaysia Day Celebration Main Committee said this is important because the celebration should not only be a big event held at the national level, but it should be highlighted from the celebration of each family or community from various backgrounds on the country’s historic day.
The launch of the National Month and the Flying of Jalur Gemilang in 2020 was held modestly at Dataran Perdana, Perdana Putra here with limited attendance to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
Last year, the launch was only held online since the country at that time was under the National Recovery Plan to control the spread of COVID-19 with no physical celebration event held.
The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia announced that three main activities will be held to highlight the celebration of the National Month this year.
It includes the launch of the National Month and the Flying of Jalur Gemilang in Putrajaya, the National Day Celebration on August 31 at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysia Day Celebration on September 16 in Melaka.
In addition, various national programmes and competitions have been arranged to foster and instill the spirit of patriotism and love for the country among Keluarga Malaysia.
Among them are ILHAM Merdeka Tik Tok Challenge, KLIK@Merdeka Contest, Smule Star Competition, Patriotic Star Contest, MYDOODLE@Merdeka Colouring and Drawing Competition, National Storytelling Programme and Merdeka Poetry Competition which will all start from 30 July to 16 September.
