LADA wins ‘Heritage Article’ category at PATA Gold Awards 2021

ALOR SETAR, Sept 11 — The Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) has won the gold award in the ‘Heritage Article’ category in the international ‘Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Awards 2021’.

LADA in a statement tonight informed that the prestigious award ceremony which has been organised for the past 26 years, took place virtually on Wednesday (Sept 8), taking into account the COVID-19 situation around the world, which has yet to show signs of decline.

LADA’s tourism division manager Azmil Munif Mohd Bukhari accepted the award on behalf of the agency.

The PATA Gold Awards 2021 organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) was judged by an international panel of 18 independent individuals from Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia.

The statement said this year’s event saw 113 entries from 51 individuals and organisations in the field of travel and tourism from around the world.

“There were 20 award categories in total comprising two main themes related to tourism, namely Marketing and Sustainability & Social Responsibility.

“A total of 18 ‘Gold Awards’ were presented to winners from around the world, including LADA. LADA is very pleased to receive the honourable award from PATA this time,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, LADA chief executive officer Nasaruddin Abdul Muttalib said the award was a source of motivation to LADA and industry players to continue to ensure that Langkawi’s tourism sector prioritises sustainability and social responsibility, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
