JAUTEH COMMITTED TO IMPROVING SABAH-INDONESIA BORDER POLICING INFRASTRUCTURE

The new Sabah police commissioner, Datuk Jauteh Dikun, is committed to improving the development of policing infrastructure on the Sabah-Indonesia border, through the federal government’s special allocation for the state.

He said that the construction of buildings at two district police headquarters (IPD) in Nabawan and Kalabakan, will be realised if the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) obtains 20 per cent of the total special allocation.

“I will also continue some of the previous leadership’s policies and plans, especially in terms of infrastructure and human resource development. All this is for the sake of improving quality and performance, efficiency and capability in ensuring the quality of services provided meet the needs and aspirations of today’s society.

“I will also take the opportunity available through the federal government’s special allocation, worth half a billion to the state of Sabah, through the development of improving the defence of the Sabah-Indonesia border,” he said.

Jauteh said this while speaking at the duty handover between him and his deputy, DCP Shahurinain Jais, witnessed by the Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, at the state police contingent headquarters (IPK) auditorium here, today.

He also thanked the leadership of the PDRM for trusting him to lead the Sabah IPK, and will strive to carry out the duties and responsibilities entrusted to him to the best of his ability, to ensure that the PDRM continues to be the premier law enforcement agency in the country.

Meanwhile, Acryl Sani, in a press conference, believed that Jauteh’s experience will be able to ensure that the level of security and order in Sabah continues to be maintained and under control, which in turn encourages faster development of economic activities.

“Sabah is a state full of tourist attractions, not only among locals but also from abroad.

“As one of the major tourist destination states, we (the police) place great emphasis on the level of security in Sabah, both in terms of security related to the threat of crime and threats from activities that can cause public anxiety,” he said.

In the meantime, Acryl Sani is also confident that Shahurinain’s experience will be able to assist Jauteh in administering and managing security in the state.
