Idris advises Muslims to steer clear of immoral acts, avoid sparking disputes

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 30 (Bernama) — Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Idris Ahmad has advised Muslims in the country to free themselves from the clutches of immoral acts and avoid sparking disputes, especially on social media.

Speaking to reporters after attending the Hijrah Merdeka 2022 programme at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque here tonight, Idris said the people should instead take advantage of social media for national, economic, educational and social development.

“We have to remember that slanderous comments on social media are more dangerous than verbal slander.

“There are millions of people on social media. What we write will not be erased by itself. Are we willing to meet the person we slandered in the afterlife,” he said.

Idris also advised social media users to be mature and not upload content on social media that could humiliate other individuals or create disunity.

He said this when asked to comment on the ‘tausiyah’ (advice) that he delivered at the Hijrah Merdeka programme.

The programme, held in conjunction with National Day 2022, began with congregational Maghrib prayer, followed by a forum, congregational Isyak prayer and the tausiyah (advice) session by Idris, which was attended by nearly 3,000 congregants.
