German chipmaker Infineon expanding production in Malaysia

German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon said on Thursday it is investing more than €2 billion ($2.3 billion) to build a new production facility in Malaysia. Construction work at the Kulim site, where Infineon already has two facilities, is to start in June, the Bavaria-based company said. Chip production is expected to start in the new space in the second half of 2024. Some 900 new jobs will be created on site, the company said.
