Floods: PDRM helicopter sends four tonnes of food aid to Kahang

KLUANG, Jan 26 (Bernama) — Four tonnes of food supplies were sent to Kahang via air route using the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) helicopter today to assist those in areas cut off by floods.

Kluang district police chief ACP Bahrain Md Nor said the food supplies are for 660 workers in the Selai and Enggang palm oil plantations and 240 Orang Asli families in the Sedohok and Pengkalan Tereh settlements.

“The aid was sent using the Agusta Westland (AW139) helicopter operated by pilot Supt Mohd Fairuz Jamil and his assistant ASP Shahrizat Shahrudin from PDRM Air Operations Force.

“Among the items are rice, mineral water, sugar and other necessities which can last up to five days,” he told reporters here.

Bahrain added that food supplies for Orang Asli in the Peroh and Pucur settlements would soon be delivered via the river route.

Yesterday, Johor police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said over 2,000 plantation workers and residents of Orang Asli settlements in Kahang had been cut off after the road leading to the area was inundated by flood waters.
