JOHOR BAHRU, April 27 (Bernama) — A total of 488 units of Rumah Impian Bangsa Johor (RIBJ) in Bandar Dato ‘Onn have been completed and vacant possession handed over to buyers on March 31.

Johor Corporation chief executive Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim said the RIBJ Bandar Dato’ Onn project over 51.92 acres of land was one of the projects under the auspices of the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation (YSIJ) apart from the RIBJ in Bandar Baru Majidee.

According to him, to date, Jland has completed 808 units of affordable housing for the RIBJ project in Bandar Dato’ Onn as well as Bandar Baru Majidee with a development area of 59 acres under the RIBJ scheme.

“The RIBJ project in Dato’ Onn covers four types of landed houses measuring 1,181 square feet to 1,262 square feet with a price of RM85,000 to RM100,000 per unit.

“Meanwhile, the RIBJ project in Bandar Baru Majidee which is located on a 6.8-acre site has been fully completed by the end of 2021 and houses 320 units of three-bedroom apartments, comprising two 12-storey blocks and each block houses 160 units of apartments,” he said.

He said this in his speech during a handing over of keys ceremony in Bandar Dato’ Onn here today.

The ceremony was officiated by Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

Also present at the ceremony were Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Johor State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani.

He said the RIBJ house project which was launched on March 22, 2017, was also equipped with facilities such as cooking hobs, air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines and rice cookers.

He said the construction of RIBJ houses was in line with the wishes and aspirations of the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar in ensuring that every citizen of Johor had their own house in a suitable and comfortable area at an affordable price.

RIBJ house key recipient A.Arvind, 28, said he was happy his four-year wait for the new house had finally come to fruition.

“I am very happy and can’t wait for all the processes to be completed to bring my wife and child to live in our first home. The application process is also easy and fast, so I wish to thank the Sultan of Johor for helping us realise our dream,” said the private sector employee.

Siti Maryam Ibrahim, 40, has also been making preparations to move in for the past three years.

“I am very grateful because I do not have my own home yet, and I think I can move in by June. I have already made preparations since 2019 when we knew the (application) had been approved.

“The application process is easy and only took a month. The good thing is, thankfully, the main fixtures in the house are all provided, and no other place provides such facilities, so it is very helpful for people with an income like us,” said the former clerk who has three children.
