HOUSTON, June 03, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — e2log is pleased to announce that it will be participating in the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo™ 2022, in Orlando, Florida, from June 6-8. This is the first year e2log will attend the event, engaging with customers and attendees at booth #508.

At the conference on Wednesday, June 8 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EDT, e2log’s Founder & CEO, Adolph Colaco, will moderate a roundtable discussion on “Global Logistics and Orchestration Platforms – Beyond Visibility Platforms and Transportation Management Systems.”

Adolph will be joined by Dennis Mottola, a seasoned executive from the project logistics space, who has spent the majority of his career at Bechtel, and Shanaka Fernando, Managing Director at GAC Group, a global logistics service provider, plus other industry-leading cargo owners and shippers who will be attending the event.

Participants will discuss why visibility platforms and conventional Transportation Management Systems (TMS) aren’t enough in today’s challenging supply chain environment. Given the unique nature of international logistics, which involves all types of cargo, moving via all modes of transportation, anywhere in the world via logistics service providers and networks that have disparate tech capabilities, orchestration platforms are the newest entrants that are transforming the international logistics technology landscape.

Major global cargo owners and shippers are leveraging this technology to gain better transparency, visibility and control of their supply chains while achieving a high degree of process efficiency, automation, compliance and cost savings. This roundtable discussion will provide industry insights and real-life customer examples of the same.

“After more than 25 years as a hands-on supply chain professional, I founded e2log to address the day-to-day challenges that logisticians face in the process of moving freight internationally. I firmly believe that easy-to-deploy and simple-to-use technology, which has been thoughtfully built to solve real-world problems and deliver a high degree of process efficiency and automation, will transform international logistics and revolutionize global supply chains, providing a winning edge for those organizations that adapt quickly,” said Colaco.

“I’m excited to be showcasing our orchestration platform for global logistics to the Gartner client base and am looking forward to welcoming new customers to e2log, joining the likes of Fluor, Noble Drilling, ACWA Power, New Fortress Energy, Shelf Drilling and several others.”

The Celebrations of June 2nd, at the Italian Embassy

This year again in attendance, after two years of limitations imposed by the pandemic

Ambassador of Italy to the United States Mariangela Zappia on Thursday, June 02, 2022 in Washington.

Ambassador of Italy to the United States Mariangela Zappia on Thursday, June 02, 2022 in Washington.

WASHINGTON, June 03, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — It is the values of the Constitution, born from the referendum held 76 years ago, which require Italy to take sides with Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. This was recalled by the Italian ambassador to Washington, Mariangela Zappia, in the speech delivered in front of the approximately one thousand participants in the celebrations of June 2nd, at the Italian embassy. In quoting the words of the head of state, Sergio Mattarella – “The Italian Republic is firmly committed to finding ways out of the conflict that lead to the withdrawal of the occupying troops and the reconstruction of Ukraine,” – Ambassador Zappia stressed that the Italians are “alongside Ukraine and work for peace”. This commitment, “We owe it to the Ukrainians, but we also owe it to ourselves,” because “being alongside Ukraine means protecting the ideals of freedom and democracy that we have steadfastly pursued for over 70 years”. Zappia then underlined the strong, special and exemplary relationship that binds Italy and the United States, since the foundation of the Republic.

The words of Ambassador Zappia, preceded by the national anthems performed by the Italian-Brazilian singer Gaia, were followed by those of the Assistant Secretary of State for Europe, Karen Donfried, who thanked Italy for its role as a “valued” NATO ally and EU partner. The United States and Italy, Donfried said, recalling Prime Minister Mario Draghi’s recent visit to the White House and the “excellent” meeting with President Joe Biden, are “alongside Ukraine” and “defending freedom” in the face of Russian aggression. And Italy, Donfried said, responded with “great generosity and determination in this moment of crisis”.

The celebrations for June 2 this year were again in attendance, after two years of limitations imposed by the pandemic. In addition to underlining the link between Rome and Washington, the celebrations for the birth of the Italian Republic were also an opportunity to showcase the best of Made in Italy. This year the focus was on sustainability, innovation, creativity and culture. The gardens and the large hall of the embassy were a showcase not only for the most celebrated products of Italian agri-food industry in the USA, but also for  three iconic Lamborghinis, forming the Italian Tricolore. Guests were also able to admire an electric Fiat 500, an electric Vespa and Bianchi electric bicycles.

Made in Italy mobility was also represented by the newly launched airline ITA, as well as by Enel X columns for charging electric vehicles and by an Eni stand in which the group’s commitment to sustainability and energy transition was enhanced. Amazon Italy was also present this year, together with four Italian SMEs, whose products are available on the group’s platform in the USA.

Two-year-old among 800 participants of AKM Terengganu fun ride

KUALA NERUS, June 3 (Bernama) — Inspired by the courage of ‘Awang Kenit’, a two-year-old boy decided to join his family in a fun ride held in conjunction with the Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (AKM) Terengganu programme here today.

With a blue helmet and chocolate biscuit in hand, Muhammad Syafi Adwa Muhammad Syariffudin, 2, was tucked safely in his baby seat on his father’s bike, relishing in the delight of the crowd as they crossed the finish line.

Muhammad Syafi Adwa was among the 800 riders who joined the 25-kilometre (km) ride that began and ended at the Terengganu Motor Circuit at the Terengganu Sports Complex here.

His father, Muhamad Syariffudin Awang, 31, said his son was unafraid of such activities, including cycling, and in fact, loved it even though he was still young. This has led to his son being the youngest participant in several other rides in the past.

“My whole family is into cycling, so I have brought him along since he was eight months old, and he loved it. Whatever cycling programme, almost all of us will sign up for it,” he told Bernama here today.

Muhamad Syariffudin, an employee at the Terengganu Sports Complex, and wife, Nur Syuhada Mokhtar, 31, are really active in sports and always bring their child along for such activities.

The boy’s grandfather, Mokhtar Che Mat, 64, was also a participant and has been into cycling for the past five years.

“Age is no obstacle to cycle and my interest bloomed when the younger ones showed an interest,” he said.

Meanwhile, private sector employee, Rosham Mat Ramli, 39, said he was excited about the programme as it was his first ride event.

The programme, he shared, provided him with a new experience and showed him that this could actually be his hobby as the memory of cycling together for 25 km was a very great experience.

The participants of the ride were bursting with excitement during the flag off, which was attended by Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin and Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.

The event had two categories, a 25 km ride and a 13 km ride, and took riders through several locations around the town including the Kristal Mosque Bridge and Pantai Batu Buruk before ending at the finish line at the Terengganu Motor Circuit.

2021 South East Asian (SEA) Games gold medallists Zulfikri Zulkifli (mountain bike cyclist), Ahmad Syazrin Awang Ilah (national BMX racer) and Nur Aiman Mohd Zariff (professional cyclist) were also present at the event.

PT3 abolishment: Empowerment of school-based assessment can allay parents’ concerns

KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 (Bernama) — The School-based Assessment (PBS) which contains three components namely Classroom-based Assessment (PBD), Physical, Sports and Curricular Activities Assessment (PAJSK) and Psychometric Assessment (PPsi) should be strengthened and empowered to ease parents’ concerns over the abolition of the Form Three Assessment (PT3) examination.

National Union of the Teaching Profession of Malaysia (NUTP) president Aminuddin Awang said the abolition of PT3 was the right move, otherwise, schools would only focus on the teaching system to train students to answer exam questions.

However, he said, many parents have also expressed their worry over the methods or assessments that could be used to evaluate students’ academic proficiency following the abolishment.

“The Ministry of Education (MoE) needs to examine the PBD system to convince parents and to ensure that its implementation at the primary level can be truly trusted,” he told Bernama when contacted today.

Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin announced that the MoE decided to do away with PT3 which was introduced in 2014 beginning this year and that it would empower the PBS.

Meanwhile, the Parent Action Group for Education Association (PAGE) chairman Datin Noor Azimah Abdul Rahim said with the abolition of PT3, the culture of learning merely to sit for examinations has been addressed.

“The question now is to what extent can teaching through interventions be effective and what are the next plans to persuade parents that students who are lagging will get the attention they deserve and then reach the set benchmarks,” she said.

MIC vice president Datuk T. Murugiah suggested the MOE reconsider the decision to abolish PT3, noting that they need to ensure students’ ability and determination to learn can be assessed fairly using a balanced assessment method for the sake of their future.

Meanwhile, Morni Wong Abdullah @ Wong Kheng Hing, 45, who is a secondary school teacher in Semporna, Sabah expressed his worry that students would not have something that they could be proud of when they finish schooling apart from only relying on the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination results to further their academic pursuit.

He said without the PT3 exam students might get too comfortable as the only major public examination now is the SPM, as the Primary Six Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) centralised examination was also abolished last year, which might cause them to pay less attention to monthly tests.

“When the time comes to sit for the entrance examination to fully residential schools (SBP) or Mara Junior Science Colleges (MRSM), they will not be very effective because they have missed lessons for so long,” he said.

A civil servant, Habsah Ismail, 43, opined that the PT3 abolishment posed a new challenge to parents and teachers, noting that to allow students to master classroom learning, all parties must be involved.

“I have a child who is studying in a fully-residential school in Kelantan and of course I expect teachers to be the main guide in assessing the abilities, and skills of our children as well as making assessments,” she said.

The abolishment surely brought relief to students but it does not mean they will not be assessed from time to time, she said, adding that students should aim at going to universities.
