Construction of 177 new PEDi approved – Annuar

 

KOTA BHARU, Nov 7 (Bernama) — The construction of 177 Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) Digital Economy Centres (PEDi) has been approved and will be built as well as operatioinal next year, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

 

He said several companies have been shortlisted to tender for the project.

 

“I understand two or three companies are in the shortlist and it is up to the procurement committee of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to appoint one or two of these companies in question.

 

 

 

“It is expected that an allocation of about RM300 million would be required to construct and operate the new PEDI,” he told a press conference after attending the PEDi Community get-together at Kampung Kadok Dalam here today.

 

Meanwhile, Annuar said that phase one of the National Digital Network Plan (JENDELA) in the Kadok area has seen quite good results.

 

“A total of 529 premises have access to broadband services with 21 transmitter stations ready to be upgraded to 4G technology,” he aded.

PM hopes Para Shuttler Liek Hou’s success will inspire other athletes

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob hopes Para shuttler Cheah Liek Hou’s success at the World Para Badminton Championships will serve as an inspiration for other athletes to achieve success in their respective sports at all levels.

 

Liek Hou, 34, had on Sunday clinched his seventh world title after beating Indonesian arch-rival Dheva Anrimusthi 21-14, 21-12 in straight sets during the men’s singles SU5 final of the World Para Badminton Championships held at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.

 

Ismail Sabri who congratulated Liek Hou on his success, in his Facebook posting today, urged other athletes to strive for excellence and prove that disability does not necessarily be an obstacle to achieve success at the highest level in sports as well in real life.

 

 

 

Liek Hou however, missed out on a double victory and his sixth world doubles title when he and his partner Mohamad Faris Ahmad Azri lost 13-21, 12-21 to Dheva-Hafizh Briliansyah Prawiranegara in the men’s doubles final.

 

Last year, Liek Hou made history by becoming the country’s first Paralympic gold medallist in badminton during the Tokyo Paralympics.

 

Liek Hou has an unparalleled track record in world para badminton as he has also emerged as the men’s singles champion in 2005, 2007, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 and men’s doubles champion in 2005, 2007, 2011, 2013 and 2015.

Pahang ready to face early floods – Wan Rosdy

MARAN, Nov 7 (Bernama) — The machinery and assets of rescue teams in Pahang are prepared to face the risk of early floods after a forecast of continuous rain for tomorrow until Friday, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosday Wan Ismail.

 

He said that the state government and agencies involved had held a briefing with the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) to make preparations apart from allocating RM47 million for this year’s monsoon season.

 

“The preparation is based on previous flood experience and improvements proposed by the relevant parties, including all Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB) chairmen.

 

 

 

“The relevant authorities have also sent food items to the places vulnerable to the floods,” he told the media after a meeting with the election machinery in Chenor today.

 

MetMalaysia has issued a continuous rain warning at alert level for Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor from tomorrow until Friday.
