Xencor ได้รับกรรมสิทธิหุ้นส่วนเพิ่มเติมใน Zenas ในส่วนของการชำระเงินล่วงหน้า และมีสิทธิ์ในการชำระเงินตามเป้าหมายและค่าลิขสิทธิ์จากยอดขายสุทธิของผลิตภัณฑ์เชิงพาณิชย์ถึง 480 ล้านดอลลาร์สหรัฐ

COVID-19: Malaysia not out of the woods yet

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 22 — Malaysia is still not out of the woods in its COVID-19 battle, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today as he reminded the public to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures set by the authorities.

Speaking at a Malaysian Family corporate contribution presentation here today, Khairy said Malaysia is still facing challenges despite the COVID-19 situation improving with daily cases showing a downtrend.

Malaysia’s new COVID-19 cases dipped below 5,000 yesterday and today 4,885 new cases were recorded.

“We know that this is a particularly stubborn virus, it’s not going anywhere but we have to continue to move forward, reopening safely but at the same time ensuring that our public health care system is not crippled or paralysed,” he said.

Khairy reminded those who have already received their appointments for a booster dose to go for it especially those above 40 years old and individuals with comorbidity.

“Whatever that is offered, take it. It will not only help you in terms of ensuring better coverage but also help other people by bringing down the transmission risk,” he said.

At today’s event, seven entities including government-linked companies (GLC), foundations and private companies contributed non-cash contributions worth RM41.56 million to the Ministry of Health (MOH) including Tabung Kebajikan Pendidikan Yayasan Taiwan Buddhist which contributed various medical equipment to MOH health facilities worth RM22.6 million.

Khairy said MOH has received non-cash contributions of about RM200 million from various parties since January 2020.

1,696 fire dept officers, personnel infected by COVID since start of pandemic

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Nov 22 — A total of 1,696 Fire and Rescue Department officers and personnel throughout the country were infected by COVID-19 since the pandemic hit the country in March last year, with two recorded deaths.

Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Datuk Seri Mohammad Hamdan Wahid said 68 officers and personnel were currently being treated for COVID-19, adding that the two deaths – a senior officer serving in Sabah and another officer of other rank serving in Negeri Sembilan – were due to infections from community and were not work-related.

“Those who were positive were not infected at their own fire stations but were community infections…most of them underwent quarantine at home as they did not have serious symptoms,” he told reporters after a department award presentation ceremony here today.

A total of 105 officers and personnel in Penang were awarded their medals at the event, which was also attended by Penang JBPM director Saadon Mokhtar.

Mohammad Hamdan said 98 per cent of the department’s 14,500 officers and personnel throughout the country have completed their vaccinations and 26 per cent have received their booster shots, adding that the department encouraged booster shots as it offered more protection to firefighters while they performed their duties on the field.

In this regard, he said the department had established a high-rise building rescue squad in Kuala Lumpur to help those attempting suicide following a rise in cases due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The squad is not only equipped with special equipment for high-rise building rescues but have been trained physically and psychologically as they are required to dissuade those attempting to commit suicide,” he added.

On the department’s preparation for floods, he said it is not only focussing on flood hotspots but also looking at areas that have the potential to be flooded during the monsoon season.

Mohammad Hamdan said there are more than 200 flood hotspots in the country and the department is ready if more areas were affected.

“Places like Maran and Kuala Lipis in Pahang as well as Kota Tinggi (Johor) are not flood hotspots but they have been hit several times this year as that is why the Fire and Rescue Department is also looking at such locations,” he added.

MOE to issue new timetable for SPM 2021 examination – Radzi Jidin

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 — The Education Ministry (MOE) is to issue a new Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2021 schedule soon, says Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin.

Speaking via a video recording uploaded on his Facebook account, Dr. Radzi said his ministry had received a lot of feedback from parents and SPM 2021 candidates regarding the 2021 SPM schedule which was released by the ministry.

“We (the MOE) take into account all views expressed and I have had a discussion with the Examination Board and the ministry’s senior management to look into all viewpoints and statements made and take the necessary action to analyse each view.

“God willing, we at the MOE will issue a new schedule regarding SPM 2021 in the near future. Thank you,” he said in the recording that lasted slightly more than a minute.

The video that was also shared in the ministry’s official Facebook account received positive comments from netizens who expressed thanks and gratitude.

Radzi also expressed his appreciation to parents and 2021 SPM candidates for their views regarding the 2021 SPM examination timetable which was announced before this.

On Nov 17, the MOE issued a statement announcing that the examination timetable for SPM, Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) and the Ujian Pencapaian Bahasa Antarabangsa (UPBA) for 2021 is ready and can be downloaded from the Examination Board official website at lp.moe.gov.my beginning from the date the statement was issued.

The announcement of the schedule received mixed reactions from parents and students. The media also reported that there were parties who requested that the SPM 2021 schedule which will take place on March 3 to 20, 2022 be reviewed, especially for examination papers held on Friday and Sunday.

This is because Friday is the day Muslims perform Friday prayers, while Sunday is the day Christians attend mass.

Claims in South China Sea will not hinder ASEAN-China relations – FM Saifuddin Abdullah

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 — Though a number of ASEAN countries are involved in territorial claims with China in South China Sea, that should not be an issue which could hinder the relations between China and the 10-member grouping, says Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

The minister said he believed that the economic, education and many other issues would prevail over the contentious claims through the ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations, which now has been elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

“I believe there are more to be expected from the economic realm and socio cultural realm of the comprehensive strategic partnership,” he told a press conference after accompanying prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to the ASEAN-China Special Summit to commemorate the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations held via video conferencing today.

The special summit was co-chaired by the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and China’s President Xi Jinping.

Saifuddin said that during the intervention at the summit, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri ismail Sabri Yaakob had reiterated Malaysia’s consistent stand on South China Sea and wanted the contentious issue to be handled peacefully, constructively and rationally through dialogues and negotiations.

“Malaysia emphasized that all nations should be committed in preserving South China Sea as a sea of peace, stability and trade,” he said.

High-performance civil service achieveable with skilled and innovative manpower

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 22 — A high-performance civil service can be achieved via civil servants who have the calibre of leadership, skills, innovation and are bold to face challenges based on integrity, accountability and transparency, said the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.

He said the transformation of the civil service towards high-performance services was among the initiatives contained in the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

He said the 12MP was also set to witness online government services online from end to end (E2E) targeted to rise to 80 per cent by 2025.

Speaking at a pre-launching ceremony on the 2021 National Technical Profession Day celebration in Kuala Lumpur today, Mohd Zuki said the public sector, which was also pioneered by the technical manpower, was no exception in realising the directions of the Malaysian Digital Economy (MyDigital), Fourth Industrial Revolution Police (4IR) and 12MP.

“This challenge requires transformation from various aspects including the need for the digital-first thinking and an increase in the use of digital technology in the public sector as well as the commitment in developing manpower for the future employment landscape, besides the provision of quality broadband infrastructure and digital technology,” he said.

According to Mohd Zuki, several new sectors or frontier technologies must be explored more deeply by technical professional staff including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), big data, blockchain, 5G, 3D printing, robotics, drone and nanotechnology.

“These frontier technologies, despite existing efforts to develop them, still require specific and deep scrutinies by technical professional officers and staff to continue creating new innovations for the benefit of the people and national excellence,” he said.

Mohd Zuki said members of the technical professions in the public sector have a role to play together with the government to help stimulate the national economy through the development of innovative and highly skilled human capital.

This, he said was important to speed up the production of innovations and digital technology adaptations which could boost the efficiency of the services delivery system to simultaneously help revive the national economy.
