YIPP, Alnoor Foundation collaborate to establish International Islamic School

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 9 (Bernama) — The Penang Islamic Foundation (YIPP) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Alnoor Foundation, which owns the International Modern Arabic School (IMAS), to establish an international Islamic school in Penang.

Deputy Chief Minister I, Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman, said that the Alnoor Foundation, through IMAS, is an educational institution that runs the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination system, and has more than 15 years of experience in the field of education, operating in Putrajaya.

“This collaboration will offer international-class Islamic education options to the people of Penang and residents of the northern region states wanting to obtain education at the kindergarten, primary and secondary levels in the field of religion, with an international-class learning syllabus,” he told reporters after witnessing the MoU signing ceremony here today.

Ahmad Zakiyuddin, who is also the chairman of YIPP, said that this collaboration will make Penang an education hub not only for states in the northern region but also capable of attracting domestic and foreign students to further their studies in religious education, with an international rating.

Earlier, Alnoor Foundation chief executive officer, Dr Waleed Almuallimi, signed the MoU with YIPP general manager, Mohd Fitri Ibrahim.
