LABUAN, Petronas employees from Labuan and Sabah today visited 20 houses of the Chinese community in Kampung Sg Keling here to hand over contributions under Yayasan Petronas’ ‘Sentuhan Kasih’ programme in conjunction with Chinese New Year celebrations.
Some 20 staff were involved in the half-day programme, led by head of Petronas Sabah and Labuan, Rokiah Sulaiman, and Petronas Chemicals Methanol Sdn Bhd chief executive officer, Lawai Jok.
The recipients comprised elderly people, people with disabilities, single mothers, and those from B40 families. Each of them received ‘angpow’ and essential items like rice, cooking oil, sugar and salt.
The programme was part of the Yayasan Petronas’ nationwide event aimed at spreading festive joy to 1,500 less-privileged Malaysians as they usher in the new year.
Apart from spreading joy during the festive season, the programme is also aimed at nurturing and enhancing the spirit of giving and volunteerism among Petronas employees.
Also present were Kampung Sg Keling village head Tan Beng Hian, who is also the chairman of the Village Community Management Council and his committee members.
