VEHICLE STOLEN IN MALAYSIA FOUND IN THAILAND

SONGKHLA, Thailand, Thailand police have found a four-wheel-drive vehicle, believed to have been stolen in Malaysia, abandoned in a village in Songkhla province close to the common border of the two countries.

Sixth Division Police chief Col Sompong Suwannawong said it could be possible that the vehicle, which was found in Kampung Thunprin Thursday evening, was to be sold in the black market in Myanmar.

The police received intelligence information indicating that the vehicle was brought into Thailand via Sungai Golok and it was being taken to Hatyai, he said to reporters.

The driver, believed to be a member of a cross-border vehicle theft syndicate, fled before the police arrived at the scene, he said.

The vehicle had already been fitted with a Thai registration plate to avoid it being detained at any roadblock, he added.
