KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA The body of a man was found on the tracks near the Pusat Bandar Puchong LRT Station today.
RapidKL tweeted that the body was found about 100 metres away from the station.
It said an investigation was underway and it would issue a formal statement after obtaining more information.
The public is asked not to speculate on or manipulate the incident, it said.
Earlier, Serdang District Police chief ACP Ismadi Borhan confirmed the incident.
Ismadi said police received a distress call at 7.51 am and upon arrival at the scene found the body on the tracks.
He said no identification documents were found on the man.
Based on the closed-circuit television camera (CCTV), the man was seen getting out of a train. He was seen walking on the tracks before being hit by a train and died on the spot, he said.
Ismadi said police were investigating the incident to determine whether the man was drunk or had attempted suicide.
Police have ruled out foul play. The case has been classified as sudden death. The body was sent to the Serdang Hospital, he said.
Meanwhile, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, in a statement, said that following the incident at 7.24 am, the power supply had to be cut off temporarily in order to remove the body, halting LRT operations on the Sri Petaling route.
The service was resumed at 9.03 am.
It said the CCTV footage showed a glimpse of the man entering the station at about 12.30 am, after the LRT operating hours.
