Roadshow Provides Special Fast Track Lane For Sarawakians To Enter Public Universities, Colleges

KUCHING: School leavers including Chinese attempting to enter public universities or colleges need to head down to the Education Roadshow 2018 being set up at MJC Batu Kawah now as a special fast track lane has been opened and promised placements for Sarawakians for today only.

The special roadshow initiated by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is brought here and Sarawak for the very first time to give the best of opportunities to Sarawakian children, especially those who have missed the boat to secure placement in public higher education institutions previously, to further their studies.

The event Main Committee chairman Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar pointed out that 20 universities and colleges have promised 200 places each for Sarawakians.

This is a special fast track lane for Sarawak children. So everyone who come and apply today basically can be guaranteed a place in university or college if you have achieved expected grades and meet the conditions of the offer, he addressed the opening ceremony of the roadshow.

The roadshow, he added, is brought here to ensure Sarawak school leavers are not dropped or left out from opportunity to pursue higher education.

Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Stampin, was delighted to spread this good news especially to Chinese students and parents.

Last time, this type of programme was targeted at Bumiputera children but this time it is specially designed and even the Chinese children are given the opportunity, he said.

So every SPM and STPM school leavers here today would be given a place in higher education institution provided you are not choosy and meet the offer criteria, he added.

The programme, he shared, has allowed 100,000 students since 2016 to be able to receive and afford a tertiary education at both public and private local universities as well as technical institutions.

So don’t miss this chance to enjoy the fast track special lane to pursue your dreams and change your destiny and achieve a better future for you and country, he urged.

All school leavers and potential candidates visiting the roadshow have been reminded to bring all important documents which are necessary to ensure smooth application process.
