KUCHING: The 12.9km stretch of Phase I of Jalan Ulu Sikat-Sebakong project in Mukah, costing about RM75.4 million, will reach completion in January next year.
Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the project, which was approved in January last year, was 55 per cent completed � about two per cent ahead of schedule.
He pointed out that the 9.5km stretch was of R3 standard, and 3.5km of it was R1 standard, including a 30m concrete bridge.
In line with the state government’s desire to improve Mukah area, it has approved the construction of 12.9km stretch of Jalan Ulu Sikat-Sebakong road, which is under Phase I and is scheduled for completion in January 2019, Julaihi said when making a site visit on Monday.
Julaihi, who is Sebuyau assemblyman, pointed out that the project would benefit 14 longhouses with a population of more than 1,500.
Julaihi and his group also visited Tuai Rumah Empi Daweh longhouse.
Present was the Barisan Nasional candidate for Mukah parliamentary constituency Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib.
