Online application open to candidates for 2022 Young Scientist, Technician Awards — MOSTI

PUTRAJAYA, June 10 (Bernama) — Online applications are now open to candidates for the 2022 National Young Scientist Award and the 2022 National Technician (Science) Award, said the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

MOSTI said the Young Scientist Award, which is divided into two categories, Life Science and Physical Science, is open to Malaysian scientists under the age of 35.

“Aspirants need to conduct research and development (R&D) projects in public or private educational institutions in Malaysia,” MOSTI said in a statement today.

The Technician (Science) Award is open to Malaysian technicians (science) or laboratory assistants as well as semi-professional staff related to science, technology and innovation, who are undertaking R&D at public or private institutions in Malaysia.

Winners of the Young Scientist Award will receive RM10,000 cash, plaque, certificate of appreciation and MOSTI research grants of up to RM1 million for each category, while winners of the Technician Award will receive RM10,000 cash, plaque and certificate of appreciation.

“This award and recognition is an initiative to stimulate young scientists to come up with research that have innovations to be highlighted,” said MOSTI.
