N.Sembilan Government Advances Electric Vehicle Infrastructure with New Charging Bays.

SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan government is committed to developing electric vehicle charging bays (EVCB) in the state, in line with the federal government’s goal of achieving 10,000 charging bays nationwide by 2025. State Housing, Local Government Development and Transportation Committee chairman J. Arul Kumar announced that the Negeri Sembilan Town and Country Planning Department has initiated efforts to present the EVCB Planning Guidelines at the State Planning Committee Meeting scheduled for December 19, 2023.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, these guidelines are designed to assist local authorities and development regulators in preparing development plans and evaluating applications for planning permissions, building plans, or construction permits related to EVCBs in the state. The guidelines aim to streamline the application process for EVCB construction, facilitating the development of secure and comprehensive infrastructure at strategic locations to support the state’s burgeoning EV industry.

J. Ar
ul Kumar emphasized that the Negeri Sembilan Structure Plan 2045 prioritizes comprehensive public transport and infrastructure development. This initiative aligns with the state’s broader efforts to enhance connectivity and sustainability. He shared these insights in response to a query from Siau Meow Kong (PH-Rahang) during a state assembly session.

In response to a separate question from Kamarul Ridzuan Mohd Zain (PN-Paroi) regarding the management of risky trees, Arul outlined that maintenance is undertaken through one-off, periodic, and continuous measures. He mentioned that a request for a RM4.7 million allocation has been submitted to the Public Works Department’s (JKR) Road Facilities Maintenance Branch on September 30 to manage high-risk wild trees along federal roads. Additionally, RM10.44 million has been allocated to JKR, local authorities, and district offices for trimming hazardous trees using the Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS) allocation.
