MELAKA, March 8 (Bernama) — The Melaka government is studying the need to form a new Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) to ensure more effective services and accurate information can be delivered to the local community.
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said the formation of the new JPKK, however, would require approval from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development based on the set criteria or conditions.
“The formation of the new JPKK involves certain areas, especially in villages that have parks with a dense or large population.
“The JPKK plays a crucial role in helping the development of the state and is concerned with every development and current issue so that every information at the state government level can be channelled to the grassroots,” he told reporters after officiating the JPKK Effective Governance and Insurance Briefing Programme, here, today.
He said that, in addition, the JPKK also acts as a facilitator in delivering services and helping to solve any problems that arise so that no one is marginalised or dropped out.
He said that so far there are 316 JPKKs established in Melaka with a total of more than 4,000 committee members, adding that all of them are expected to shoulder the responsibility of ensuring that the mission and vision of the state government can be properly implemented for its stability and prosperity.
