BATU GAJAH, A man high on drugs threatened to kill his mother when she refused his demands for money, police said today.
Batu Gajah district police chief ACP Ahmad Adnan Basri said the 33-year-old suspect, the youngest of five siblings, had confronted his mother, 71, at their Kampung Ara Payong home here and asked for some cash.
“When she refused, the suspect threatened to slaughter her before she rushed out and asked for a neighbour’s help to inform the police, he said in a statement here tonight.
Ahmad Adnan said a team from the Batu Gajah District Police’s Criminal Investigation Department Division rushed over and arrested the suspect at about 4pm.
Ahmad Adnan said the suspect, who has no permanent job, was also involved in drug abuse and the death threat to a family member was his second this year.
He said the first incident occurred before Ramadan recently but no police report was lodged.
According to him, the suspect was also found to be positive for MOP-type drug and checks revealed that he also has a drug-related criminal record.
