Dhaka, Sept 14 (UNB) – Malaysia wants to meet a significant portion of its demand for extra workforce from Bangladesh, said visiting Secretary General of the Malaysian Ministry of Human Resources Datuk Seri Haji Saripuddin Bin Haji on Monday.
He also mentioned that Malaysia has a plan to officially declare Bangladesh as a ‘source country for labour force’.
The official said this when a visiting Malaysian delegation, led by him, met Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali.
During the meeting, Haji Saripuddin briefed the Foreign Minister about the outcome of the 6th Joint Working Group meeting held toady at the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, including ‘G to G Plus’ mechanism for the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers.
He also stated that Malaysia has opened up all of its sectors, including construction and services.
Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali apprised Haji Saripuddin about various initiatives taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the welfare of Bangladesh workers employed abroad and also about the intention to go for foreign employment, including Overseas Employment Bank.
