SEGAMAT, Malaysia A voter from Putrajaya was so keen on exercising his right that he slept in his car outside the polling station at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Buloh Kasap last night.
V.J. Mohan, 60, who was the first person to vote at the station, said he arrived in Segamat at about 3 am and decided to take a rest before the station opened at 8.00 am.
I stood outside the main gate of SMK Buloh Kasap at 6.30 am and was the first person to queue up, he told reporters here today.
Another early voter at the polling station was Yee Yoke Chin, 73, who arrived there at about 7 am.
I wanted to be the first person to vote but, when I arrived there, many people had queued up outside the station, she said.
Meanwhile, MIC president Dr S. Subramaniam and his wife Dr Umarani arrived at the polling station at 8 am and were there for about 45 minutes before visiting other polling stations in Segamat.
