MALAYSIA: US EMBASSY HOSTS ‘AMERICA DAYS’ BASH IN KOTA KINABALU

KOTA KINABALU, Sabah state, Malaysia The United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur will host the ‘America Days 2018’ celebration with various activities around the city from today (Tuesday) until Thursday.

During the celebration, the embassy will work with several non-governmental organisations and parties, including Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) to carry out various programmes.

Kota Kinabalu City Mayor Yeo Boon Hai said DBKK welcomed efforts by the US Embassy to hold the celebration in Kota Kinabalu.

This celebration is held in conjunction with the United States Independence Day. As such we are proud that Kota Kinabalu was chosen by the embassy so we will support and work together to undertake various activities during the celebration, he told reporters here yesterday.

Yeo said the US Embassy in collaboration with DBKK would also hold a cycling event besides carrying out road cleaning activities around the city on Thursday and the people are welcome to participate in the programme.

Among other activities to be held during the celebration are ‘Jazzy Night in Kota Kinabalu’, to be performed by jazz singer and writer Gabrielle Stravelli besides two local singers at the Black Box Suria Sabah, today (Tuesday) evening.
