MALAYSIA: QUANTUM OF BONUS FOR CIVIL SERVANTS FOR AIDILFITRI STILL UNDECIDED – DR MAHATHIR

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia � The government will pay a bonus to the 1.6 million civil servants in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri soon, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Bonus for civil servants? We will give the bonus, the quantum is still unknown, he said after chairing the meeting of the Supreme Leadership Council of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Melaysia (PPBM) that lasted about three hours at their headquarters at Menara Yayasan Selangor, Petaling Jaya near here today.

Also present were PPBM president who is also the Home Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin, party deputy president who is also Kedah state Menteri Besar (Chief Minister), Mukhriz Mahathir and PPBM Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

Dr Mahathir, who is also PPBM chairman and Member of Parliament for Langkawi, said the party’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration would be held in Perak at a location to be determined later.

In the 2018 budget, the Barisan Nasional government announced a special aid of RM1,500 for the 1.6 million civil servants.

A sum of RM1,000 had been paid out in January while the balance was scheduled to be paid before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
