PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia’s labour force for the fourth quarter of 2018 rose by 2.4 per cent to 15.45 million compared to the fourth quarter of the previous year, according to the Department of Statistics.
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin in a statement today said the working population in the country also rose 2.4 per cent in the same period to 14.93 million.
He said the labour force participation rate (LFPR) in the fourth quarter of 2018 rose by 0.1 percentage point to 68.6 per cent from the third quarter of 2018.
In the fourth quarter of 2018, the unemployment rate improved by 0.1 percentage point from the third quarter of 2018 to 3.3 per cent.
As of December 2018, the unemployment rate still remained at 3.3 per cent, he added.
