KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia April 27 (NNN-Bernama) — Notable Indonesian writers, including laureate Sapardi Djoko Damono, are expected to attend the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (PBAKL) 2018 this year.
According to Chairman 2 of the PBAKL 2018 Management Committee, Ishak Hamzah, among the writers expected at the event were Asma Nadia, Aan Mansyur, Habiburrahman El-Shirazy and Andrea Hirata.
Besides 800 booths and more than 250 exhibitors at the book fair, book distributors from Indonesia will also bring in many best copies such as popular Indonesian novels.
We will also have a Writing Convention on May 5 which will bring together more than 200 successful writers like Asma Nadia who is known for her novel ‘Surga yang Tak Dirindukan’ as well as Andrea Hirata who is known for the novel ‘Laskar Pelangi’, he told Bernama when met after appearing as a guest on the Nine-11 programme on Bernama News Channel, here today.
The guest of honour, Indonesian laureate Sapardi Djoko Damono who is known for the novel Hujan Bulan Juni will also meet fans at the book fair, he said.
Despite it being held during the 14th general election season, the PBAKL 2018 is targeting more than 1.6 million visitors.
The fair will be held from April 27 until May 6 at the Putra World Trade Centre and is free to members of the public.–NNN-BERNAMA
