MALAYSIA: FOREIGN MINISTRY CONFIRMS TWO MALAYSIAN STUDENTS KILLED IN ACCIDENT IN INDONESIA

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia April 30 (NNN-Bernama)– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) today confirmed that two Malaysian students have died in an accident at Jalan Garuda Sakti, Pekanbaru, Indonesia on Sunday.

In a statement, the ministry said the victims, Mohammad Shaiful Bukhari Amat, 25 and Ameer Hakimi Azman, 20 were students of Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim (UIN Suska) Riau.

Both were rushed to Aulia Hospital and Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Arifin Achmad for treatment, before they were pronounced dead at around 5 pm local time, it said.

The ministry said the Malaysian Consulate in Pekanbaru was aware of this incident and currently rendering the necessary consular assistance to expedite the funeral arrangements.

“MOFA would like to convey its deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased,” it added.–NNN-BERNAMA
