MALAYSIA: FATHER AND SON COMPLETE 1,600KM JOHOR-TO-PERLIS WALK

KANGAR, Perlis state, Malaysia The Malaysia Day celebration this year is more meaningful for a father and son when they managed to complete their 1,600km Johor-to-Perlis walk here midnight yesterday.

What made it all the more sweeter was the Love My Malaysia Merdeka Expedition carried out by R. Ragu, 43, and his 13-year-old son R. Surya received extensive support from Malaysians from different racial backgrounds.

Malaysians, regardless of races demonstrated their heartfelt appreciation towards our effort. There were some locals who invited us for meals and helped paid our accommodation expenses.

We also received contributions from the public to help us complete the expedition, which costed RM21,000, he told reporters after successfully completed the expedition here yesterday.

On hand to welcome them was Indera Kayangan assemblyman Gan Ay Ling.

Ragu who is from Ipoh, Perak also planned to carry out the expedition next year and invited youngsters to join him for the walk. — NNN-BERNAMA
