MALAYSIA: CANIDIDATE FOR DEWAN RAKYAT (LOWER HOUSE) SPEAKER FINALISED – DR WAN AZIZAH

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia July 10 (NNN-Bernama) Pakatan Harapan (PH) has finalised the candidate for Dewan Rakyat (Lower House) Speaker, said Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The Women, Family and Community Development Minister said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad would announce the name of the Dewan Rakyat Speaker either today or tomorrow.

Yesterday we (PH) held a meeting and only one candidate, she said after chairing the National Welfare Foundation Trustees Board meeting at the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development here today.

Parliament will sit for the first time after the 14th General Election on Monday (July 16).

Among the names previously mentioned as candidates for the post were former Socio Cultural advisor to the Barisan Nasional government Dr Rais Yatim and DAP veteran and Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang.–NNN-BERNAMA
