MALAYSIA: AIRASIA RECEIVES US$172 MLN FOR TRANSFER OF 17 AIRCRAFT, ASSETS

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia AirAsia Group Bhd (AAGB) has received US$172.0 million in gross proceeds for the transfer of 17 aircraft and assets under the agreements for the proposed disposals of its aircraft leasing operations.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, AAGB said it is currently on schedule with the planned staggered disposals of the remaining 54 aircraft and 14 aircraft engines.

AAGB said to date, the cumulative number of aircraft transferred was 30 and the company had received gross proceeds totalling US$355 million.

On March 1, AAGB’s unit, AirAsia Bhd, announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Asia Aviation Capital Ltd, had entered into agreements to sell its aircraft leasing operations to entities managed by BBAM Limited Partnership for US$1.18 billion.
