KUALA LUMPUR, Police have arrested a 22- and 23-year-old for trying to use a courier service to smuggle RM372,000 worth of ketamine hidden in steel cendol bowls into Taiwan.
Police thwarted their attempt after two raids since Monday in the Klang Valley with Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department deputy director, DCP Zulkifli Ali, adding Malaysia was being used as a transit point and that the men are believed to be members of a syndicate actively involved in smuggling and supplying drugs to the international market.
“The drugs were hidden in steel bowls like the ones used to serve cendol soldered together to avoid detection.
Some 154 bowls, as well as a Perodua Myvi, have been impounded for the investigation, said Zulkifli.
He said Malaysian police are working with Taiwanese authorities to find other members of the syndicate, with the two men who were caught being held in remand until June 18.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
