Johor banks on Hard Rock Cafe Puteri Harbour to help revive state tourism

JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 21 — The Johor government is banking on the opening of Hard Rock Cafe Puteri Harbour in Iskandar Puteri here by December this year to help revive the state’s pandemic-hit tourism sector.

State Tourism, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the opening of Hard Rock Cafe Puteri Harbor marked the fourth Hard Rock Cafe in Malaysia.

The 6,000 square feet Hard Rock Cafe Puteri Harbour can hold up to 238 people and visitors would be able to enjoy the ‘Al Fresco’ terrace area overlooking the harbour.

“Hard Rock Cafe Puteri Harbour will be one of the local anchors that will boost the local economy and that the economic spillover effect will be felt by as many Johoreans as possible as Johor goes through the tourism recovery period next year.

“It will not only act as a bridge to connect Puteri Harbour but a must-visit destination for international and domestic tourists once the COVID-19 crisis is over and borders are reopened,” he said during a press conference via Zoom here today.

Onn Hafiz said it would also serve as a suitable platform for performing arts and Malaysian artists, especially Johor’s young and ambitious talents.

Currently, there are 180 Hard Rock Cafe outlets in the world, three of which are in Malacca, Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
