KUALA LUMPUR Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has expressed his condolences to the families of the three Royal Malaysia Navy (RMN) personnel who were killed in an accident at Jalan Ranau-Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, today.
“May their souls be blessed and placed among the pious and faithful, Al-Fatihah.
“At the same time, I am praying for the speedy recovery of an injured navy personnel receiving treatment at Ranau Hospital,” he said in a statement.
Ismail Sabri said he had instructed the Defence Ministry and RMN to identify the types of assistance that could be extended to the families to ease their burden.
In the incident, a three-tonne lorry of RMN was believed to have lost control before it skidded to the road shoulder. The victims were heading to the Kota Kinabalu RMN Base in Teluk Sepanggar from the Sandakan base for official duties.
The deceased were identified as Leading Seaman Maslim Abdul Rahim from Semporna, Able Seaman Mohamad Firdaus Mat Izan (Kluang, Johor) and Able Seaman Muhammad Arif Idris (Melaka); while the injured victim was Ordinary Seaman Vincent M Orel.
