International Indigenous Arts Festival 2022 showcases culture from various countries

KUANTAN, Nov 25 (Bernama) — The 2022 International Indigenous Arts Festival highlights the ethnic and cultural uniqueness of indigenous communities from several countries including Malaysia, Kazakhstan and Mauritius.

 

For Malaysia, it showcased the arts and culture of Orang Asli from the Semelai tribe from Pahang, Mahmeri (Selangor) and Seletar (Johor) as well people from Sabah and Sarawak.

 

The Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah launched the festival and visited the exhibition booths at Kuantan 188 here today.

 

 

 

Meanwhile, the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) said in a statement that the festival aimed at highlighting the uniqueness of various ethnicities, and the culture of indigenous people from various countries and foster a spirit of unity through cultural arts.

 

The two-day festival, which started yesterday, was also enlivened with exhibitions and sales of handicrafts such as mengkuang baskets and mats, hand-carved products, herbs and traditional tools.
