The Information Department yesterday received five Malaysian delegates who are here as part of a five-day Public Relations Officers Exchange Programme. The delegates comprise officials from Malaysia’s Information Department, Ministry o f Youth and Sports, Ministry of Communication and media officers.
Acting Director of the Information Department of Brunei Mawardi bin I laji Mohammad was on hand to receive the delegation, which is led by Jaafar Jantan, the Assistant Director General of the Communications Team at the Malaysia Public Service Department.
The programme began with a courtesy call on the acting director, and was followed by a briefing on the roles of the Information Department delivered by Mohammad Hisyam bin Idris, an Information Officer.
The five-day exchange programme will also include visits to government and private agencies such as Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB), the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) and the DST Communications Headquarters, to shed light on the roles these agencies play in disseminating information to the public and media.
The programme is a project under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the Field of Information between the government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in cooperation with the government of Malaysia. Signed in December 2010, it aims to enhance close working relations between both countries in the field of information.
