INDONESIA TARGETS 1.4 MILLION MALAYSIAN TOURISTS THIS YEAR

JOHOR BAHRU, Johor state, Malaysia July 6 (NNN-Bernama) The Indonesian government aims to attract 1.4 million tourists from Malaysia this year.

Indonesian Tourism Ministry Marketing Development director Sumarni said the target was in line with various promotional programmes implemented, including by taking part in the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents Fair.

She said, based on a report by the Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency, a total of 1.2 million Malaysian tourists visited the republic last year, with Bali being the most popular destination.

It shows that Malaysians represent the fourth largest group of tourists after China, Europe and Singapore, she told Bernama after officiating the Johor Bahru-Batam Cross Border Promotion programme here today.

Sumarni said besides Bali, Belitong, Sumatera, Aceh and Jakarta were among most visited destinations for Malaysian tourists.NNN-BERNAMA
