IIUM student killed in motorcycle-bus collision

KUALA LUMPUR, An International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) student died after her motorcycle is believed to have skidded before colliding with a RapidKL bus in Jalan Kampung Bandar Dalam, here, this afternoon.

In the incident at about 12.50 pm, the victim who died at the scene was identified as Nur Alia Abdul Razak, 19, from Butterworth, Penang.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief, Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said when the incident took place the victim from Jalan Sentul Pasar was heading towards Jalan Gombak via Jalan Kampung Bandar Dalam.

On arriving at the scene, Nur Alia was believed to have lost control when trying to overtake a car before skidding and entering the opposite lane and colliding with a RapidKL bus, he said when contacted.

The victim died on the spot due to serious injuries caused by the impact.

Meanwhile, Rapid Bus in a statement confirmed that Rapid KL bus route 170 was involved in the accident.

The bus driver and 20 passengers were not injured and Rapid Bus will provide full cooperation to the police to investigate the incident, the statement said, adding that a police report had been lodged at the Jalan Bandar police station.
