KUALA LUMPUR, GiatMara is now internationally recognised, thanks to the numerous accolades its Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) students have received abroad.
Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun said among the more recent achievements was that of three GiatMara trainees, who won three medals including one gold, in the Global Skill Championship 2019 (GSC 2019) which took place in Melbourne, Australia.
“They not only raised the good name of GiatMara, but also that of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KPLB) and the country. We (KPLB) want to produce skilled, creative and innovative TVET trainees who are recognised not only at the Malaysian-level, but also internationally,” she said after officiating the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory-level 2019 Teacher’s Day event which was attended by about 1,000 educators in Bandar Baru Sentul here today.
The gold and silver medals in the GSC 2019 were won by GiatMara participants Amir Syazwan Saridan (electrical installation) and Hanafi Osman (fashion technology), while the bronze medal was won by Timorthy Bakery.
